You asked Relias for a number and got a demo invitation. That's how Relias pricing works for organizations: the platform is quoted per learner per year, and the only figures in public are the ones counties file with their board agendas. This guide separates the two Relias price lists, shows what those public records say organizations pay, gives clinicians the $249 answer, and lists the contract terms that decide what you pay after year one.
Relias pricing has two lists. Organizations license the Relias Platform on a custom per-learner annual quote that bundles the LMS with content libraries; Relias publishes no organizational price, and public county records run from $3,483.81 a year for a 35-user department to $70,149.13 for a county-wide subscription. Individual clinicians pay $249 a year for Relias Academy All Access. Every subscription renews for the same term unless one side gives 60 days' written notice.
How Relias Pricing Works
Relias pricing runs on two lists. Organizations license the Relias Platform on a custom quote, priced per learner per year, that bundles the LMS with mandatory-training and continuing-education libraries. Individuals buy Relias Academy, a public subscription at $249 a year. Relias publishes no organizational price, so the number you find online is usually the individual one.
The organizational product is the bigger of the two by a wide margin. Relias sells the platform as a bundle: course authoring, assigning and enrolling, requirements and competency tracking, policy and procedure management, reporting and a mobile app, with the content libraries sold alongside it. Those libraries are the reason most organizations buy: mandatory training, clinical and professional development, continuing education and certification review, mapped to state and federal rules.
Before any budget conversation, I'd name which list you're on. Half the numbers online belong to the other one, and a $249 figure in a board memo about a facility subscription will cost you credibility fast.
What Drives a Relias Quote
Five things move a Relias quote. None is published as a rate card, but all five appear on the order forms public bodies file.
- Learner count — the subscription metric is per user. The order form behind Sierra County's May 2025 agreement lists the Relias platform for 35 users.
- Libraries and modules — each content bundle is its own line. That order form adds an acute-care compliance library for 19 users, a children and family services library for 16, and Policy Pro for 35.
- Implementation — a one-time fee on its own line: a flat $2,100 in Sierra County's case, against $3,483.81 of annual subscription.
- Contract length — whatever the ordering document says. Sierra County's was 14 months; reviewers describe three-year terms.
- Add-ons — assessments, custom content, training-plan services and integrations are quoted on top of the platform.
Directory sites don't help much here. Capterra lists Relias at "$100 per user, per month" with pricing on request and no free trial, checked in September 2026. Sierra County's order form works out to about $100 per user per year, so treat the directory figure as a placeholder, not a rate. The mechanics of how LMS quotes are built are the same across vendors: unit, term, content, services.
I'd negotiate the library bundle first. It's the one lever you can't replace by building content yourself, so it's where the quote moves.

How Much Does Relias Cost per Year?
Organizations pay a per-learner annual subscription on a custom quote, so there is no single Relias cost. The public figures that exist come from government filings: $3,483.81 a year for a 35-user county department in California, and $70,149.13 a year for a county-wide subscription in Oregon. Individual clinicians pay $249 a year.
The public records
| Source | What it covers | Amount | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yamhill County, Oregon, Board Order 26-100 | Amendment to the county's Relias Learning subscription agreement, first authorized under Board Order 17-288 | $70,149.13 a year for August 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027 | April 16, 2026 |
| Sierra County, California, agenda item 11.L | Public Health and Social Services: platform for 35 users, two content libraries, Policy Pro; 14-month initial term from May 23, 2025 | $3,483.81 annual subscription plus a $2,100 implementation fee, not to exceed $5,583.81 plus taxes | May 20, 2025 |
| Capterra listing | Starting price shown as $100 per user, per month, pricing on request, no free trial; value for money rated 3.4 of 5 by 48 reviewers | A directory figure, not a quote | Checked September 2026 |
The Oregon figure comes from the Yamhill County 2026 board orders, which list the amendment as increasing the annual amount to $70,149.13 for August 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027. The California figures come from the ordering document attached to the agenda item above. Neither record is a rate card, and the Oregon one gives no learner count, which is the honest limit of public data.
How to read your own quote
Turn any total into a unit before you compare it. Sierra County's $3,483.81 across 35 platform users works out to $99.54 per user per year, with the two libraries and Policy Pro included. Do the same division on your own order form, then note which libraries the price includes and which sit on their own lines. A total hides the unit, so the number I'd ask for in writing is the per-learner annual price with the library bundle named. The same division works at renewal: if the total rose and the learner count didn't, the increase is in the rate or the libraries, and the order form will show which.
Relias Academy Pricing for Individual Clinicians
Relias Academy is the public price list. All Access costs $249 a year paid annually, or $22.83 a month ($273.90 over the year), checked in September 2026, and gives one-click enrollment into 1,450-plus courses. This is what a clinician buys to keep continuing-education hours current on their own account.
The term is fixed and the renewal is your choice. The store's subscription policy states it plainly: "Academy All Access is a subscription that you will have access to for 12 months from the date of purchase. You can choose for the subscription to auto-renew on or end before your next billing date during checkout." Decide that at checkout, not eleven months later.
So, do you have to pay for Relias? Only if you're buying Academy for yourself. If your employer assigned you modules on the Relias Platform, the employer holds the subscription and you pay nothing. Two checks I'd make before buying Academy: whether your licensing board accepts the CE hours, and whether your employer already pays for a platform seat that includes them.
Do You Get Paid for Doing Relias Training?
Usually, yes, when your employer assigns it. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, training your employer requires is working time whether it happens on a shift or at home, so assigned Relias modules count as paid hours for hourly staff. Only training that meets all four of the Department of Labor's criteria falls outside working time.
The Department of Labor's guidance in Fact Sheet #22 puts it this way: "Attendance at lectures, meetings, training programs and similar activities need not be counted as working time only if four criteria are met, namely: it is outside normal hours, it is voluntary, not job related, and no other work is concurrently performed." Annual mandatories fail the second and third tests on their face.
- It happens outside normal hours.
- It's voluntary.
- It isn't job related.
- No other work is performed at the same time.
Ask HR how the time is logged. State rules can add to the federal floor, and none of this is legal advice. If I ran the program, I'd pay for the hours and put them on the schedule. Unpaid mandatories are the shortest route to a wage complaint.
Hidden Costs and Contract Terms to Check Before You Sign
The price you negotiate is smaller than the price you pay unless you read the terms behind the order form. Relias publishes its 2023 Master Subscription Agreement, and Sierra County's ordering document links straight to it, so you can read the rules before the sales call.
What the agreement says
Four clauses in the 2023 agreement set the real cost. Section 9.2 renews the subscription automatically, for a term the same length as the one ending. The only way out is written notice at least 60 days before the term ends. Section 4.2 lets you reduce the learner count only with that same notice, with no refunds for lower usage mid-term. Section 4.1 lets Relias change fees after the first 12 months on 60 days' notice and charges 1% a month on past-due balances. Section 9.5 keeps your data for three months after termination and hands it over free inside that window, provided your fees are paid up. According to the order form Sierra County filed (2025), paying by credit card adds a 3% transaction fee.
One Capterra reviewer, a director of organizational development in hospital and health care, wrote in April 2026: "60 day cancellation notifications seems acceptable, but if you miss it, you're locked in for the term of your contract." The same reviewer describes a three-year contract renewing for another three years automatically. That's the agreement working as written. Put the notice date in a calendar the day you sign.
6 questions before you sign
- What's the per-learner annual price, and which libraries does it include?
- How long is the initial term, and does the renewal term match it?
- What does the implementation fee cover?
- Which add-ons are quoted separately?
- By when must we give notice to cut learners or leave?
- How do we export completion records after we leave?
The one term I'd refuse without a calendar reminder is automatic renewal for the full original length. Everything else on this list is negotiable; that one is just administrative.
Is Relias Worth the Price, and Who It's For
Relias earns its price when the accredited library does real work for you. If your survey plan depends on state-mapped courses, CE credit and certification review delivered inside the LMS, the content is the product. The quote reflects it. On Capterra, checked in September 2026, Relias holds 3.9 of 5 from 68 reviews, with value for money at 3.4 from 48, which reads to me as content worth paying for, on terms that grate.
- Choose Relias if you need accredited CE and certification review in one system, you run multi-site compliance under state rules, and you want a vendor that maintains the content when a regulation changes.
- Look elsewhere if your team already owns its policies and protocols, you want a public price you can put in a board memo, or a multi-year auto-renewal doesn't fit how you budget.
Stay on Relias if the library is doing real work for you. I'd rather say that than push a switch that costs you a year, and the reasons teams look for Relias alternatives are mostly about the platform around the content, not the content itself.
Relias Pricing vs a Transparently Priced Alternative
If the quote is the problem, one option publishes every plan. EducateMe, an AI-native LMS for healthcare teams, builds mandatory training from your own policies, runs renewals on a schedule, and prices per plan on the page. One sentence matters before any comparison: the platform's price does not include courses, continuing education or a content library, and Relias' does. You bring your policies, or you keep a CE provider and record the completions.
What the plans cost
EducateMe's pricing page listed three plans in September 2026: Pro at $239 a month for up to 80 users, Premium at $399 for 100 users, and Scale at $999 for 200 users, each 10% cheaper billed annually, with a 14-day free trial that needs no card. AI Roleplay sessions are metered per plan at 10, 40 and 200 a month. That's roughly $3 to $5 per user per month, billed monthly or annually, with no multi-year term.
What healthcare teams get
- Compliance deadlines handled — recurring courses with expirations and reminders; you see who is overdue per site.
- Training built from your own policies — the AI Assistant turns a policy PDF into a course with a quiz and an acknowledgement, editable before you assign it; customers report 3× faster course creation (customer data).
- Onboarding by role — sequential paths for RNs, MAs and front-office staff, enrolled from your HRIS.
- Practice before patients — the AI Roleplay Coach scores a rehearsed conversation against your rubric, by voice or chat.
- Survey-ready proof — completion and readiness reports you can export, per person and per team.
Limits to know before you switch
The limits are real. There's no course library and no accredited CE, so continuing education stays with your provider. There's no native mobile app, only the responsive web version. Roleplay sessions are metered. I'd put the platform on the shortlist when your team already owns its policies and protocols and wants a price it can read. I'd leave it off when your survey plan depends on an accredited catalog. That's the whole Relias pricing decision in one line: pay for the library if the library does the work, and pay for the LMS alone if you already have the content.
If you want the two price lists side by side, see EducateMe's plans or book a demo and bring one of your own policies to build from.
Frequently asked questions
Relias pricing for organizations is per user, per year. The ordering document Sierra County, California filed in May 2025 lists each Relias product as a per-user subscription line with its own quantity: the platform for 35 users, two content libraries for 19 and 16 users, and Policy Pro for 35, at $3,483.81 a year plus a one-time $2,100 implementation fee. There is no organization-wide flat rate.
No. Relias offers no free trial or free version of its organizational platform; Capterra's listing, checked in September 2026, records none either. Organizations get a demo and a custom quote instead. Individual clinicians can buy Relias Academy All Access for $249 a year without a trial, and the store lets them switch auto-renewal off at checkout so the subscription simply ends after 12 months.
Yes, when your account allows it. Relias modules run in a web browser and Relias Academy courses are self-paced online, so nothing ties you to a workstation. If your employer assigned the training, the hours you spend on it at home are still working time under the Fair Labor Standards Act, so log them the way HR asks rather than treating them as unpaid homework.
A published-price LMS without a course library can run roughly $3 to $5 per user per month on monthly or annual billing, with mandatory training built from your own policies instead of bought from a catalog. That price excludes accredited continuing education, which stays with a CE provider. Compare it with a Relias quote on the same unit: divide the annual subscription by the learner count before you weigh the library.
