An AI LMS is a learning management system where AI does real training work: it builds courses from your documents, answers learners' questions, runs practice conversations, grades answers and reports on who is ready. Most LMS vendors now say they have AI. Far fewer ship it across the whole training cycle.

So instead of taking AI claims at face value, we scored 11 platforms on the AI tools they actually ship, checked against their changelogs and help centers in October 2026. The comparison table shows every score, and each review lists the tools, what's missing and how the AI is priced.

An AI LMS is a learning management system where AI does real training work: building courses from your documents, answering learners, running practice, grading answers and reporting on readiness. We scored 11 platforms on the seven AI tool types they actually ship. EducateMe covers all seven, Sana Learn and 360Learning follow at 6.5, and Absorb, CYPHER Learning and Disco at 6. Each review lists the tools, what's missing and how AI is priced.

7 AI Tools an AI LMS Should Have

These are the seven kinds of AI tools we looked for. Together they cover the training cycle, from building a course to proving people are ready.

  • Course creation: AI turns your existing docs, slide decks, PDFs or SCORM files into a structured course, not just a prompt into generic text.
  • Editing and translation: AI rewrites, summarizes and translates lessons, adds voice-over and generates images or video.
  • Learner assistant: learners ask questions and get answers drawn from your own training content, ideally with a link to the source.
  • Roleplay practice: learners rehearse real conversations with an AI persona, by voice or chat, and get scored against clear criteria.
  • Assessment and grading: AI scores open answers and assignments, or runs a conversational check that finds knowledge gaps.
  • Reports and insights: admins ask questions about training data in plain language and get readiness or skill-gap reports.
  • MCP connection: Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant can reach the LMS through an MCP server, so training data isn't stuck in another silo.

How We Scored AI Fluency

Each platform earns one point for every category where a tool is shipped and documented, and half a point when the tool is in beta, sold as a paid add-on or thinly documented. Tools marked "coming soon" score zero. We checked vendor changelogs, help centers and pricing pages between October 20 and 26, 2026, and noted how each vendor charges for AI: included in every plan, metered by AI credits, or sold as an add-on. Brand size and non-AI features didn't count.

For a broader comparison that includes non-AI features, see our guide to the best LMS for corporate training.

EducateMe AI LMS

EducateMe is an AI-native LMS for modern training teams, and the only platform on this list with AI tools in all seven categories. Sana Learn (Workday)

Sana Learn (Workday) β€” AI LMS For Business

Sana Learn is an AI-first learning platform that Workday acquired in November 2025. Its standout is the AI Tutor: authors drop a tutor card into any course and choose its sources, and learners get explanations and quizzes right in the course flow. Since September 2026, an MCP connector lets admins manage courses and enrollments from Claude or ChatGPT.

AI fluency: 6.5/7 β€” every category except full AI grading: the tutor asks open-ended questions, but scoring isn't documented.

Pricing: from $13 per user a month, with plans starting at 300 users (Sana Learn pricing). AI is included, with no add-ons or credits.

Main AI Capabilities

  • AI course creation: turns prompts, PDFs, documents and SCORM files into native courses, including bulk conversion.
  • Translation and AI images: courses and program emails in any language, and images generated in the editor.

360Learning

360Learning β€” AI LMS For Business

AI fluency: 6.5/7 β€” every category; the MCP server is still in beta and available on request.

  • Insights Mode: admins ask about completion, scores and time spent in plain language.
  • MCP server (beta): search courses and paths from Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and Dust.

Absorb LMS

AbsorbLMS β€” AI LMS For Business

Absorb LMS rebuilt its AI under the Aura name in 2026, and it now covers most of the training cycle. Aura Create turns a prompt, a file or SharePoint content into a publish-ready course, the Aura Learner Agent answers learners with a citation to the source, and Admin Assist answers questions about live LMS data. Aura Rehearse adds rubric-scored roleplay, rolling out from October 27, 2026.

AI fluency: 6/7 β€” no AI grading of open answers yet.

  • AI editing and narration: rephrase, tone and summary tools, multi-language voice-over and two-host AI podcasts.

Disco

Disco β€” AI LMS For Business

Disco is an AI-native learning platform for running branded academies for employees, customers and partners. Its AI program generator builds a full program from a prompt, PDFs, videos and URLs, and Knowledge Check (October 2026) replaces end-of-module quizzes with an adaptive AI conversation that gives personal feedback.

Docebo is an enterprise LMS with a broad AI layer under the Harmony name. Creator turns prompts and documents into courses, Harmony Tutor explains course content, and Conversational Insights answers admin questions about enrollments and compliance. In July 2026 its MCP server went GA and AI Roleplay gained 1–5 rubric scoring with manager review.

AI fluency: 5.5/7 β€” roleplay is a paid add-on, and there's no AI grading of open answers.

Pricing: custom, typically for 250+ learners with a one-year minimum (Docebo pricing). AI runs on usage-based credits, and Roleplay is an add-on.

  • Conversational Insights: plain-language questions on enrollments, compliance and team performance.
  • MCP server: Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini for learners and admins.

LearnWorlds

LearnWorlds β€” AI LMS For Business

LearnWorlds is built for customer academies and training providers, and its October 2026 release pushed AI deep into the product. It now creates a complete course from uploaded documents, adds AI audio and video, and ships a Learner AI Agent that answers from course materials, with settings for how strictly it sticks to your content.

AI fluency: 5/7 β€” no AI roleplay and no MCP server.

Pricing: 30-day free trial; Starter $24/mo, Pro Trainer $79/mo, Learning Center $249/mo (billed annually); High Volume custom. Plans include 300–1,000 AI credits a month, and the Learner AI Agent needs Learning Center or higher.

  • AI review: feedback and grading support on open-text assignments.

  • Pages, funnels and emails: AI builds launch assets from the same source material.

Intellum

Intellum β€” AI LMS For Business

Intellum is an enterprise LMS used mostly for customer and partner education, and it has rebuilt the platform around AI agents. A Creator Agent drafts courses from source files, a Learner Agent answers from the courses each learner can open, and a Manager Agent handles enrollments and reports on request. Its four MCP connectors come with the clearest guardrails we found.

AI fluency: 5/7 β€” no AI translation or media tools; roleplay comes through a partner (Yoodli), and AI grading is still in Labs.

Pricing: custom quote only.

Main AI Capabilities

  • Creator Agent: drafts course pages, courses and questions from source files.
  • Learner Agent: a personal AI tutor that answers from the learner's courses and finds knowledge gaps.
  • Manager Agent: enrollments, groups and reports on request, with automated trend analysis.
  • AI Grading (Labs): scores open answers against your grading instructions in about 30 seconds.
  • MCP connectors: four connectors for Claude, Gemini and Copilot, with limits on bulk changes and a full audit log.

TalentLMS

TalentLMS β€” AI LMS For Business

TalentLMS is an easy-to-start LMS for small and mid-sized teams, and its AI has grown well beyond course generation. TalentCraft builds courses from prompts or documents and now makes AI videos with a presenter avatar, AI Coach answers learners inside courses, and Learning Playground lets learners role-play conversations by chat or voice.

AI fluency: 4.5/7 β€” no AI grading of open answers, partial AI reporting and no MCP server.

Pricing: free plan (5 users); Core $119/mo, Grow $229/mo, Pro $449/mo; Enterprise custom (TalentLMS pricing). TalentCraft runs on AI credits: 5,000 one-time on Core and 10,000–80,000 a month on higher plans.

  • Learning Playground: a private practice space where learners role-play conversations by chat or voice and get instant feedback.
  • Skills AI: builds skills and self-assessments and matches people to roles.

Cornerstone

Cornerstone β€” AI LMS For Business

Cornerstone uses AI mostly for workforce readiness rather than content creation. Course Assistant answers questions inside documents and videos, Role Readiness Academies (July 2026) combine AI role play with readiness scores, and Workforce AI infers skills across the organization. It's also the only vendor here with ISO 42001 certification for responsible AI.

AI fluency: 4/7 β€” course creation relies on a partner tool, AI editing is thin, and there's no AI grading or Claude/ChatGPT MCP server.

Pricing: quote only (Cornerstone LMS pricing). Workforce AI is a higher license tier, and readiness agents are add-ons.

Main AI Capabilities

  • Course Assistant: learners ask questions inside courses, documents and videos.
  • Role Readiness Academies: AI role play and adaptive practice with per-employee readiness scores.
  • Workforce AI: skills inference and readiness analysis, with Proactive Coach and Internal Mobility agents as add-ons.
  • Generative quizzes and development plans: AI-suggested objectives, skills, materials and quizzes.
  • AI content curation: recommendations that target skill gaps.

Final Thought

Most LMSs now generate courses with AI. The real differences show up in practice, grading, reporting and whether your AI assistant can reach the platform at all. Score your shortlist on all seven tools, then ask each vendor to turn one of your real SOPs into a course live in the demo.

If you want to see all seven in one platform, EducateMe has a 14-day free trial with every AI tool included.

Frequently asked questions

An AI LMS is a learning management system where AI does real training work, not just a chatbot on top. It builds courses from your existing documents, edits and translates them, answers learners from your content, runs practice conversations, grades open answers, reports on readiness, and connects to assistants like Claude or ChatGPT. The more of those tools a platform ships, the more manual work it removes. In our scoring, EducateMe is the only platform of the 11 that ships all seven tool types.

Ask for a live demo on your own material. Send the vendor a real SOP an hour before the call and ask them to turn it into a course, a quiz and a practice scenario on screen. Then ask which AI tools are generally available today and which are beta, add-ons or roadmap. Check the vendor's public changelog for AI releases in the last six months.

Vendors price AI in three ways. Some include every AI tool in the plan. Others meter usage with AI credits, often a monthly pool per plan with extra credits for sale, where building a course or running a voice roleplay costs more than a chat answer. A few sell AI features such as roleplay or skills intelligence as paid add-ons or higher tiers. Ask for the credit cost of your expected usage.

Usually not, but get it in writing. Most AI LMS vendors state that customer content is not used to train third-party models, and some name the model providers they use, such as Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock or Google Gemini. Ask whether answers cite their sources, whether admins can switch AI features off, and whether the vendor holds ISO 42001, the AI management standard.
